Our Story

They say it takes a village to raise a child—but not every family has one.

She's Got A Village began with a little girl named Lizzie, a journey through the NICU, and a mother who discovered just how important having a village truly is.

When Lizzie arrived ten weeks early, life changed in ways her family never could have imagined. Instead of bringing their newborn home, they found themselves navigating the unfamiliar world of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), where every day brought new challenges, uncertainties, and milestones.

While there was support and kindness along the way, something was missing: the connection of other mothers who had walked the same path.

There were questions that only another NICU mom could truly understand. There were moments of fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty, but also incredible victories that looked different from the milestones other families were celebrating.

In the NICU, the smallest accomplishments could mean everything. And even after coming home, the journey didn't suddenly become the same as everyone else's.

Watching other children reach milestones while learning to navigate the difference between actual and adjusted age brought its own complicated emotions. There was pride in every bit of progress, but sometimes also the feeling of being behind, even when Lizzie was growing and developing on her own timeline.

It was a different beginning to motherhood, and at times, a lonely one.

Through that experience, a dream began to take shape: What if other mothers didn't have to navigate these feelings alone? What if there were a village of people who understood, celebrated the little victories, answered questions, and offered support without judgment?

In 2025, that dream became She's Got A Village.

Founded by mothers who understand the challenges of prematurity and the NICU firsthand, our organization exists to provide essential resources, encouragement, and compassionate support to families navigating unexpected beginnings and challenging seasons of parenthood.

From providing diapers, wipes, clothing, and baby essentials to bringing comfort to NICU families through Lizzie's Holiday Book & Blanket Drive, every part of our mission is rooted in the belief that no family should feel forgotten or alone.

Because sometimes a village isn't just about having someone to help.

It's about having someone who understands.
